Gul Panag won Miss India in 1999 and she also obtained the miss beautiful smile awards in Miss Universe 1999 pageant. She worked in films like Jurm and Dhoop and also the serial Kashmeer, but she rose to popularity with the 2006 film, Dor in which she played the role of a woman name Zeenat.

In the year 2003, She started her acting career with the television serial Kashmeer. In the same year, she made her movie debut through a Bollywood film named Dhoop in the year 2003. The film was left overlooked. She then got a role in the Bollywood movie Jurm which again was a box-office disaster. Then she suddenly came to the limelight with an overwhelming performance in the much-acclaimed film named Dor in the year 2006.

For her performance, she won Zee Cine Critics Award for Best Actress. Since then, she has acted in numerous Bollywood movies in lead and supporting roles. She came in the third position with 1,08,679 votes, while Bollywood actress Kirron Kher acquired the election with 1,91,362 votes. Gul Panag operates the Colonel Shamsher Singh Foundation, an NGO that serves a diversity of causes including gender equality, education, and disaster management.
