At the age of 16, Pelé made his international debut for his native country Brazil in 1957 against Argentina in which the score was 1-2 defeat at the Maracana. He scored a goal on his debut to become the youngest player to score for Brazil at 16 years and 9 months.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, famously known as Pelé or Dico was a Brazilian footballer born on 23rd October 1940 in Três Corações, Brazil. Pelé regularly played as a forward on football ground or as an attacking midfielder and he preferred his right foot to play his game

Since 1991, FIFA has had awards for FIFA World Player of the Year and they chose to bring in the new utopia by carrying a public vote to decide the FIFA Player of the Century. This was to be determined by votes on their official website, their official magazine, and an excellent jury. Maradona gained the Internet-based survey by extensive margins, earning 53.6% of the votes upon 18.53% for Pelé.

Even though Portuguese footballer Eusébio, who was engaged in football professionally during Pelé’s period, but was put third in the poll, many commentators lamented that the Internet creation of the poll would have expected a skewed a particular sector of a population of more youthful supporters who would have seen Maradona play football, but not Pelé. As a consequence, FIFA decided to add a secondary poll and selected a “Football Family” organization formed of football journalists, officials, and coaches, who voted Pelé the best player of the century with 72.75% of the vote. Thus with 72.75% of votes Brazilian football player Pelé won the best player of the century in 2000.
