Birthday of Former President of BJP Murli Manohar Joshi is on 05 January. Murli Manohar Joshi was born on 5 January 1934 in Almora. He is an Indian politician. He was the President between 1991 and 1993, He is currently a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He used to teach Physics subject as a professor at Allahabad University in 1934.
When Joshi was young he joined the RSS in Delhi. He took part in the Cow Protection Movement that happened in 1953–54. He also joined the Kumbh Kisan Andolan of UP in 1955. During the Emergency period from 1975 to 1977 when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had declared a state of emergency across the country. Opposition politicians of Indira Gandhi were thrown in jail. Murli Manohar Joshi was one of the politicians that had to spend almost two years from 26 June 1975 until the Lok Sabha elections in 1977 in jail. He was arrested in 1975 during the Emergency period in India.
Murli Manohar Joshi of BJP is the MP from Kanpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. In 1977 he was first elected in the 6th Lok Sabha elections. He served as an MP of Lok Sabha for seven sessions. He has won seven non-consecutive Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh from 1977-2014. He presently works as the MP of the Kanpur constituency.
Joshi is acknowledged for having been inspired by the life and work of freedom activist Babasaheb Ambedkar, revolutionary social activist Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Deendayal Upadhyaya. Joshi was a three-time M.P. from Allahabad constituency before he was defeated in the Lok Sabha elections of May 2004.
He was a sitting MP from Varanasi constituency and he relinquished his seat for the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.
In 2017 Joshi has conferred the Padma Vibhushan award, the second-highest civilian award, given by the Government of India.
