A regional theatre group once reached to her mother to ask her consent to choose Seema in a theater play. Her mother accepted, and this is how she gets to enroll in acting. At the age of 15, Seema began her stage appearance. After that, she performed in numerous drama plays. Later Seema joined the National School of Drama and began working in multiple plays and overhead a point, of course, she gained connections with Indian actress Smita Patil. When Seema graduated from NSD later, she was enrolled in NSD Repertory Company and served there for seven years. After completing her honors degree in political science, she gave exams for NSD and made it.

It is said once when Seema was practicing for the play name “Khubsurat Bahu,” Director Shekhar Kapur came backstage and praised her for her performance and granted her the part of Phoolan Devi in her biopic, Bandit Queen which was released in the year 1994. Seema Biswas has conferred the National Best Actress award for her distinguished act as the dreaded dacoit turned diplomat. She was also honored with the Filmfare award for her Best Female Debut in the movie Bandit Queen.
