Pran, the most popular Bollywood villain’s birth anniversary is on 12 February. He was born on 12 February 1920 in Delhi. His real name was Pran Krishan Sikand. Well like other super and well-known villains of India like Amjad Khan’s role in the movie Sholay as Gabbar Singh which was released in the year 1975 or Kulbhushan Kharbanda’s role in the movie Shaan as Shaakaal which was released in 1980 or even Amrish Puri’s evergreen role in the movie Mr. India as Mogambo which was released in 1987

He also didn’t have the complicated side that makes him looks like a brute. But there was some charm about Pran that made him the most ‘admired’ and loved villain in the Bollywood film industry. He didn’t seem as intimidating as Ajit’s role of Loin in the movie Zanjeer in the year 1973 or Danny’s remarkable role in the movie Agneepath as Kancha Cheena in the year 1990. Pran redefined the Hindi film villain characters, which made him stylish and gentlemanly suited villains of all time.

He presented the Hindi film(s) industry with numerous prestigious roles in his occupation span of more than sixty years. Some of his extraordinary characters were in movies like ZanjeerPurab Aur Paschim, Upkar, Karz, Sharaabi, and Ram Aur Shyam. Pran was the man who was the master of disguise.

How very notable, for a gentleman who transformed on-screen savagery, Pran started his acting dream career life performing the role of Sita in a local Ramlila in Shimla. Ironically, a man as charming as Pran was playing the role of a lady beautifully. 

Nevertheless, he moved to move to Bombay (now Mumbai) to pursue his dream career as an actor. Pran became famous as a villain who brought a new appearance feels to every movie and every role he performed. Pran plays so many versatile characters in his career all the characters he played were always different from one another but his signature style of suited well-groomed man remained the same in some of the movies. 

Beginning from his signature kohled eyes appearance that gave a threatening expression to his distinct vogue of burning a cigarette to his perfect timing of dialogue delivery game — everything about great villain Pran was portrayal flawless. As his career grew he played many roles of hero and villain in some movies he was a vicious hateful villain in others he was a lovable man who either a hero or a great ally of a hero.

In his budding profession, in the year from the 1950s and 1960s, Pran acted in successful movies like Ziddi which was released in the year 1948Biraj Bahu which was released in the year 1953Devdas which was released in year 1955 and Madhumati which was released in the year 1958. Pran was distinguished for performing the character of the scoundrel in Hindi movies, in a profession that spans more than six decades.

Between the years of the 1960s and 1980s, he performed in approximately all significant Bollywood movies, advancing the character of the villain to worship state that after Pran India has not found its villain like Pran. He performed in more further than 350 movies, including the megahit and blockbusters of that era. Making movies to move from liking the hero to liking the villain that’s what Pran did in his movies with his remarkable acting skills.

Most popularly, he acted alongside Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan in the movie called Zanjeer which was released in the year 1973. For this movie, Pran made a drastic transformation into a good common man from a tempting villain. He was also called the legendary “Villain of the Happiness” in Hindi Cinema and is one of the most well-known and celebrated artists of the Hindi film industry. 

His acting was so compelling that it assumed that enthusiasts of cinema and people of India Cumber and stopped labeling their kids as the name of ‘Pran‘ because of his vicious villain characters. Legendary artist Pran Kishan Sikand, who was popularly distinguished by the name Pran, passed away at the age of 93 on 12 July 2013 in Mumbai.
